About the Laser Safety programme

An essential elearning programme for clinicians and aesthetic practitioners

The Core of Knowledge is recognised by the UK Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) as the minimum level of learning required by users of lasers, intense pulsed light and other optical radiation devices. The focus is on safety with the aim being to protect users, patients and other persons present during laser treatment.

eLaser has been developed in the UK by The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) in partnership with HEE elearning for healthcare. It consists of eight elearning sessions (of four hours’ duration) and an assessment, which together cover the recommended Core of Knowledge syllabus.

The eLaser sessions make extensive use of photographs, illustrations, animations and video to support the learning and contain hyperlinked references and next step suggestions to encourage further research. Users completing the sessions and passing the assessment are awarded a BAPRAS-endorsed certificate which isvalid for three years.
