Eye-Site is an e-learning resource for ophthalmologists and is delivered by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) in collaboration with e-Learning for Healthcare.

Eye-Site will form a key part of the RCOphth training programme supporting Ophthalmology trainees Years one to seven.

The programme will also support the new College curriculum for ‘run through’ training enhancing Continual Professional Development in Ophthalmology.

Ophthalmology imageIn phase one of the project Eye-Site will offer over 300 highly interactive knowledge sessions of e-learning covering topics such as:

  • Basic Sciences, Basic History and Examination
  • Community Ophthalmology
  • Laser Treatments (including safety)
  • Refraction (testing for spectacle and other corrections)

In the future Eye-Site will also offer access to the Validated Case Archive (VCA), a large, comprehensive, well documented, classified and professionally validated collection of virtual cases, to enable self-directed learning, assessment of visual interpretation skills and reinforcement of clinical experience in a safe environment.

The first Eye-Site sessions will be made available free of charge to all Ophthalmologists in the UK from September 2010.
