Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) has worked with Health Education England’s AHP team and the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust to add new sessions to the Supporting AHP Students elearning programme.
The resource provides non-registered AHP assistants and support staff with training to develop their understanding of student education and to develop their skills in supporting students and educators within their teams.
The new sessions comprise the following topics:
- The Student Journey Part 1: University and Placements
- The Student Journey Part 2: Becoming a Registered Practitioner
- Practical Skills for Supporting Students
They complement the 2 existing sessions on health and wellbeing which focus on resilience and reasons why students may struggle on placements.
On completion of the whole programme, learners will understand about the student journey, from the beginning of their studies to qualification, and how practice placements form part of their learning.
The programme is flexible in delivery as learners can either access it individually or as part of a peer group. There is no set timeframe for completing each session which each take approximately 1 hour to complete.
For more information and to access the programme, please visit the Supporting AHP Students programme page.
