About the programme
This elearning session is designed to provide a basic overview of the services commissioned by NHS England, Health and Justice, and the career options within these services. This includes services that provide healthcare within the criminal justice system, immigration removal centres, sexual assault referral centres and also healthcare within the children and young people’s secure estate.
The session was co-developed with expert stakeholders and is designed to explain and promote the unique working environments and career opportunities available within health and justice commissioned services, and to give the learner a flavour of what to expect should they choose a career within one of these services.
By the end of this elearning session the learner should be able to:
- understand the services commissioned by Health and Justice and how they support their respective client/patient groups
- understand the range of roles within each type of service
- understand where to go to find out more information about these services and role opportunities
- reflect on personal career options and opportunities
- reflect on personal knowledge, skills and development needs

The development of this session forms part of the NHS England, Health and Justice, ‘Inclusive Workforce Programme.’ The aim of this session is ‘To improve the recruitment and retention of a larger, more diverse, inclusive and representative workforce for all health and justice services and programmes.’

To access this elfh programme, you will require a Learning Hub account. If you do not have one, then you can register by selecting the Register button below. Note that if you hold a full elfh account, you can sign into the Learning Hub using your existing login credentials.
To view the Introduction to Health and Justice Careers programme, select the View button below. If you already have a Learning Hub account, you will also be able to login and access the resources within the programme.
NHS healthcare staff in England – ESR
The Introduction to Health and Justice Careers programme is also available to NHS healthcare staff via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). Accessing this e-learning via ESR means that your completions will transfer with you throughout your NHS career.

Not an NHS organisation?
If you are not an NHS health or care organisation and therefore do not qualify for free access to the Learning Hub, you may be able to access the service if you have an existing OpenAthens account. Please go to Learning Hub and sign in with your existing credentials.
If you do not have an existing OpenAthens account, please contact elfh directly to check whether you may be eligible for access.
Registering large numbers of users
If you are a HR, IT or Practice Manager and would like to register and enrol large numbers of staff within your organisation for access onto the Introduction to Health and Justice Careers programme, please contact elfh directly.
