New Supporting AHP Students elearning programme launched

Posted on: August 31st, 2021 by Leanne Hargreaves No Comments

Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) has worked with Health Education England’s AHP team and the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust to launch a new supporting allied health professionals (AHP) student elearning programme.

The aim of this course is to provide non-registered AHP assistants and support staff with training to develop their understanding of student education and to develop their skills in supporting students and educators within their teams. During this course, users will learn about the student journey, from the beginning of their studies to qualification and how practice placements form part of their learning. The resource will also offer an understanding of what is expected from students during placement, how to give feedback to students and educators and how to recognise and support a student who may be struggling. By developing these skills, non-registered staff will be able to contribute to the delivery of practice placement education, improving the quality and capacity of placements.

The following sessions are now available:

  • Health and Wellbeing Part 1: Resilience
  • Health and Wellbeing Part 2: Why Might a Student Struggle on Placement?

For more information about the elearning, including how to access it, please visit the HEE elfh Supporting AHP Students programme page.

New survey launches to expand reach and impact for All Our Health

Posted on: August 25th, 2021 by Louise Garrahan No Comments

A new survey to gather feedback on how colleagues can best implement the All Our Health elearning programme into their settings and places has been developed by Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) and Public Health England.

As the UK moves towards the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be essential for health, care and extended public health workforces to appraise the lessons learned and consider what changes need to be made to ensure that each sector builds back better and fairer. This will require a sharper focus on protecting and promoting the public’s health and addressing health inequalities.

The survey will encourage professionals to think about what additional tools and resources could support them to embed the All Our Health programme within their settings. The ideas generated will form 2 new implementation toolkits which will be targeted towards provider and academic organisations.

To access the survey and share your thoughts, please visit: https://healtheducationyh.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/all-our-health-toolkit-survey

All Our Health features a broad range of bite-sized elearning sessions and interactive townscapes covering key public health topics such as obesity, dementia, air pollution and physical activity. They are designed to help professionals improve their knowledge and confidence to act on these important issues. For more information about All Our Health please visit: https://www.e-lfh.org.uk/programmes/all-our-health/.

NHS Health and Wellbeing Champions supported with a new elearning session

Posted on: August 19th, 2021 by Rachel Gowland No Comments

Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) worked in partnership with NHS England and NHS Improvement to develop a new elearning programme which aims to support individuals who have been identified as Health and Wellbeing Champions, within their NHS organisation.

One of the ambitions in the NHS People Plan 2020/2021 is a programme of work that encourages all NHS organisations to roll out a network of Health and Wellbeing Champions, in a way that works best for their organisation. Champions may also be identified under titles such as Health and Wellbeing Allies, Health and Wellbeing Officers, or Health and Wellbeing Advocates working in an NHS organisation.

This network of champions will support colleagues as needed, signpost to relevant resources and regularly ‘check in’ with other colleagues. In turn, this will support the ambition to embed a culture of inclusion, compassion and wellbeing across the NHS.

About the elearning

The elearning session includes 7 sections which explore the role of a Health and Wellbeing Champion and how to implement this knowledge across NHS organisations. The session takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and includes knowledge checks and the opportunity to download a certificate after completing the session.

Accessing the elearning

To read more about the background to this elearning programme, please visit the programme page.

Your feedback

As ever, feedback on the module is valuable and we would encourage any Champion completing the programme to let us know their views.  There is a short, optional questionnaire at the end of the module that can be completed by those who wish to share feedback.
