All Our Health launches interactive townscape on childhood obesity

Posted on: March 18th, 2021 by Louise Garrahan No Comments

Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) has worked in partnership with Public Health England (PHE) to develop an interactive townscape on childhood obesity as part of the All Our Health elearning programme.

The townscape provides advice and guidance for health and care professionals to help support families and children living above a healthy weight. The COVID-19 pandemic has posed challenges for families, including the closure of schools, leisure centres and sports clubs, which has contributed towards a decrease in physical activity for some children.

The interactive townscape takes a place-based approach to consider what action can be taken on this public health issue and features an animated town where learners can select various buildings, such as the school and sports centre, to access advice and guidance for preventing illness, protecting health and promoting wellbeing.

The townscape also signposts learners to other sources of support such as PHE and obesity charities.

It complements All Our Health’s 25 bite-sized elearning sessions which cover a range of public health topics including mental health, early adolescence, immunisation and physical activity.

To access the townscape please visit the All Our Health programme page.

Cleaning for confidence - keeping NHS premises safe and clean for patients

Posted on: March 18th, 2021 by Rachel Gowland No Comments

This elearning programme was developed in partnership with Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) and NHS England and NHS Improvement (Midlands).

The programme outlines the fundamentals of cleaning and infection prevention and control to everyone within the NHS family, with the aim of stopping the spread of Coronavirus and other infections. The public-facing element of the campaign also aims to give confidence to patients and service users that NHS services remain safe to access during the pandemic and beyond.

Why is cleaning for confidence important?

  • Keeping NHS premises safe and clean for our patients is a commitment that we all share, and it is something that has never been more important than right now.
  • Every single person within the NHS family has a part to play in maintaining that commitment to keeping people safe.
  • A clean workplace is our first and best defence in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and other infections.

About the Cleaning for Confidence programme

The Cleaning for Confidence elearning programme was developed to build upon staff knowledge of the good cleaning practices, that can help to stop the spread of COVID-19 and other infections where they work, both in clinical and non-clinical settings.

The elearning session takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and a certificate can be generated on completion of the elearning.

Everyone who completes the Cleaning for Confidence programme will become a cleaning champion, having demonstrated their commitment to keeping colleagues, patients and their families safe each and every day.

How to access the elearning

To learn more about the elearning, visit the Cleaning for Confidence programme page.

You can also visit the NHS England and NHS Improvement website to find a comprehensive communications toolkit that makes it easy to adopt the cleaning for confidence campaign within your organisation.

HEE e-LfH COVID-19 vaccination programme launches hit 2 million

Posted on: March 4th, 2021 by Leanne Hargreaves No Comments

Health Education England’s elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) COVID-19 Vaccination programme has passed the milestone of 2 million session launches since going live.

The elfh COVID-19 vaccination elearning programme continues to be an essential part of the vaccination recruitment and training process.  Health and care colleagues are using the resource to develop the knowledge needed to confidently promote high uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine and deliver the vaccination programme effectively.

The programme consists of a core knowledge session, the COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 Pfizer-BioNTech session, the COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca session and accompanying assessment sessions for each.  New elearning sessions will be added as each new vaccine becomes available.

Since the COVID-19 vaccination programme went live, the content has been updated and amended as more information about the vaccines and the vaccine programme has become available. Further details about the recent updates can be found on the elfh news page.

The wealth of COVID-19 resources available on elfh, including the vaccination elearning, remain free to access by people working in the NHS, the healthcare sector, the independent sector and social care. The online learning resources have proved invaluable to new, existing and returning staff, particularly where traditional learning environments have been unavailable.

More details about the vaccination content can be found on the elfh COVID-19 vaccination programme page.

New video group clinics e-learning programme available

Posted on: March 2nd, 2021 by Rachel Gowland No Comments

Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) in partnership with NHS England and NHS Improvement, ELC Works and Redmoor Health are delighted to launch their new Video Group Clinics (VGC) programme; which includes new elearning resources and a toolkit developed for GPs, practice nurses, health and care professionals in community settings and care homes.

The elearning resources support the introduction of video group clinics in different settings by providing learners with an overview and working knowledge of video group clinics and consultations: including the benefits, delivery principles and outcomes of introducing this practice.

Why implement video group clinics?

Combining group consultation and video clinics aims to build a sense of community and facilitate peer support, while enabling health and care teams to stay connected in supporting those with long term conditions, who are in need of regular reviews and are vulnerable to infection. Video group consultations and clinics can be delivered in a single session, or as part of an extended programme of care and support.

About the elearning resources

  • Session 1: Considering video group clinics.
  • Session2: setting up a video group clinic.
  • Educationalvideos and animations.
  • Dedicated video group clinics toolkit.

Learners are required to complete elearning session 1 before session 2, which has been designed to build and assess knowledge about the VGC competency.

The sessions take approximately 20 minutes to complete, and learners can expect educational videos and animations. Certificates are available after the completion of each session.

Additional support

There are a number of additional resources available to those interested in video group clinics, including the Digital First Primary Care and Primary Care Networks within the FutureNHS collaboration platform (sign-up/log-in needed) and the Total Triage elearning which is based on the Total Triage blueprint.

Accessing the elearning

To access the elearning and more information about additional support, please visit the video group clinic elearning programme page.
