New learning resources have been added to the Recognising and Managing Deterioration elearning programme. The National Early Warning Score (NEWS) in Ambulance Services training comprises of 3 parts.
NEWS eLearning for Frontline Staff, developed by the London Ambulance Services NHS Trust, aims to support learners in applying the NEWS2 scoring system in a clinical environment and understand the thresholds, triggers, and escalation to appropriate care, following application of the tool.
NEWS eLearning for Paramedics offers learners an overview of NEWS and specific case studies relevant to staff working in ambulance services. The resource covers the need for the NEWS tool and the evidence to support its use when recognising and responding to deterioration. Learners will also gain knowledge in the ATMISTER communication tool and identify the ways in which they might manage patients in similar situations to the case studies.
A Train the Trainer package is also available, which includes all sections of the NEWS in Ambulance Service resources in a PowerPoint format and can be used in a facilitated learning session.
