This programme aims to give the learner an overview of what haemovigilance is, how it is covered in the UK and how to optimise learning from the annual SHOT reports to improve current practice in transfusion medicine. It also aims to illustrate the process when an incident is reported to SHOT by encouraging participation in various case studies to gain insight into the SHOT reporting categories by linking them to real patient scenarios. This course also explores key SHOT recommendations to enhance safe transfusion practice and links to further free learning resources available on the website.
