Members of the NHSE TEL education content development community have collaborated to create a programme that shares best practice. Led by Lead Learning Designer, Claire Beattie, Senior Project Manager, Marnie Greenrod, and Graphic Designer, Catherine Moran, two sessions have been created to facilitate and support in the development and delivery of quality elearning sessions.
Intended for all authors of elearning, this session is designed to guide you through the authoring process and advises on how to write content that will engage and motivate learners.
Writing good content is about more than correct spelling and proper grammar. It is about engaging your learner and ensuring they can spend less time interpreting content and more time retaining knowledge.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
• explain the factors which should be considered when creating elearning content for NHSE
• create a session plan
• submit structured and outcome-focused content
• describe your role within the session development process

This session is currently being developed and is due to go live in the Autumn, 2024.
This session has been created for those who build elearning. It is intended to serve as guidance for external contributors to the NHS Learning Hub, as well as those building elearning for use within Trusts and Royal Medical Colleges.
This session shares best practice as to what is expected and required from a session to ensure user engagement, compliance and quality.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
1. describe the recommended content development and review process
2. review the submitted content against the required standard
3. explain the factors which should influence the creation of a storyboard/content plan
4. list the legal requirements for asset creation and use
5. explain what should be considered when building an elearning session
This programme is fully accessible to the general public.
Contributors to the NHS Learning hub are required to adhere to the guidance outlined within these sessions. This will ensure all learning resources available to users through this platform, fulfil the requirements as set out in the NHS Digital Service Content Guide
Session 1 is intended for all authors of elearning content.
Session 2 is intended for those building elearning, including external contributors to the NHS Learning Hub, and those developing and delivering content for Trusts and Royal Medical Colleges

NHS healthcare staff in England – ESR
The NHSE TEL Content Development and Delivery programme is also available to NHS healthcare staff via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). Accessing this e-learning via ESR means that your completions will transfer with you throughout your NHS career.
If you are not an NHS health or care organisation and therefore do not qualify for free access to the Learning Hub, you may be able to access the service if you have an existing OpenAthens account. Please go to Learning Hub and sign in with your existing credentials.
