Health Education England elearning for healthcare, part of the Technology Enhanced Learning Team, has just reached the milestone of 500 elearning programmes in its catalogue.

HEE elfh works in partnership with the NHS and professional bodies to support patient care by providing free elearning resources to educate and train the health and care workforce

HEE elfh’s programmes cover subjects from alcohol and tobacco intervention to anaesthesia, dentistry to dementia, emergency medicine to end of life care, mental health to midwifery supervision, and sepsis to statutory and mandatory training. The online training sessions enhance traditional learning, support existing teaching methods and provide a valuable reference point.

There have been more than 81 million session launches on the elfh hub, more than 34 thousand elearning sessions available to access and there have been over 13 million hours of effective learning time.

Dr Neil Ralph, head of Technology Enhanced Learning, said: “We are delighted to reach this important milestone within elearning for healthcare. Our programmes have amassed more than 2 million registered users over the last 15 years and we have seen exponential growth during the COVID-19 pandemic as online learning rapidly replaced face to face training.

“We are proud to support the health and care workforce with our high-quality elearning resources and look forward to developing many more programmes for our colleagues.”

The 500^th programme to be added to the elfh catalogue is Virtual wards enabled by technology: a multidisciplinary elearning programme.  This programme was developed by NHS England and Health Education England elearning for healthcare to support doctors, nurses and allied professionals in the use of technology to provide safe, acute-level care to patients at home.  The elearning is for clinicians to gain an understanding of implementing and running a virtual ward enabled by technology.
